The Greene County girls basketball team had three games resulting in three losses the week ending Dec. 18.
Tuesday was a home game against the undefeated West Marshall Trojans who are ranked ninth in Class 3A. The Rams scored only 12 points in the first half of the game, which wasn’t enough against the Trojans’ 30. The second half of the game didn’t look much different, with the Trojans winning 64-26.
Four Rams were responsible for all 26 points scored, Emma Shipley and Emma Hoyle each scoring 10 points, and Ella Shipley and Kamryn Sanders adding two each. The Rams had 26 rebounds against the opponents’ 41.
“Emma Shipley really stepped up for us and hit three three-pointers. We had a tough challenge with the number 9 team in the state, but it was all around one of the best games we have played yet,” said coach Tori Ogden.
Friday saw the Rams in Perry to face the Jayettes. With nine Greene County points in the first half, and 13 in the second, the Rams lost 48-22.
“Bri Habben stepped up for us with a double double,” praised Ogden.
On Saturday, the Rams had another home game against the Kuemper Catholic Knights. The Rams lost 68-37.
“A monstrous game from Bri Habben with 24 points and 15 rebounds, for another double double. We had a big fourth quarter with lots of good things,” said Ogden. “Overall we are improving so much and are building to the future.”
